On October 1, 2025, the Tianta Campus of Tianjin Huanhu Hospital (Tianjin University Neurological Medical Center) officially opened, marking the official launch of the Nation’s first comprehensive brain-computer interface (BCI) clinical trial ward.

During the opening ceremony, the Haihe Laboratory of Brain-Computer Interaction and Human-Machine Integration and Tianjin Huanhu Hospital formalized a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement. This partnership represents a powerful integration of leading scientific research capabilities and high-quality clinical resources. Together, the two parties will collaborate to establish a world-class platform for clinical trial research and innovation translation, fostering the growth and fruition of smart healthcare in Tianjin.

Following the ceremony, a free medical consultation event was held, allowing the public to experience the high-quality services of the new Tianta Campus firsthand.

With the inauguration of the campus, the nation’s first comprehensive BCI clinical trial ward—jointly developed by Tianjin University's Haihe Laboratory of Brain-Computer Interaction and Human-Machine Integration and Tianjin Huanhu Hospital—has officially commenced operation. A range of independently developed BCI products are already undergoing clinical research at the hospital. The ward will implement systematic BCI-based clinical solutions for various severe neurological conditions, including stroke, cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, hydrocephalus, traumatic brain injury, and visual or auditory impairments. Tailored BCI application plans will be designed according to the specific features of each disease, providing patients with full-chain medical services—from screening and precise treatment to intelligent rehabilitation.
